What does the term ‘cleat’ mean?
A cleat is a type of bracket with either two flanges or a closed design in which moorings are placed, typically when the gunwale is higher than the dock or the area to which the boat is moored.
Biltema’s cleats/fairleads
Biltema’s chock cleats are sold in opposite pairs. This means that you get a cleat for both starboard and port. When you mount your cleats, be careful not to swap around starboard and port, otherwise the ropes will go the wrong way.
Our cleats are made of acid-resistant stainless steel and have the AISI 316 standard, which means you will get high-quality and very durable cleats.
Remember to seal when mounting cleats
When mounting cleats, it is important to seal properly. If you don’t, there is a risk that water will leak seep into the deck and cabin. Find marine sealant and other sealants here in the link.
