Clay bar and cleaning clay
Cleaning clay, often in the form of clay bar, is an important step for properly cleaning your car. Clay bar is typically used before polishing, waxing or sealing. The cleaning clay removes small particles of dirt and dust stuck to the car’s paintwork, such as pollen, surface rust, brake dust or asphalt stains.
With a clay bar you get a shiny, dirt-repellent surface and the Paint will be as shiny as when the car was new.
How to use Paint cleaners
- Wash the car
Start by washing your car with car shampoo. Then rinse the car thoroughly to remove any loose dirt and dust.
- Degrease the car
Apply degreaser to areas that are particularly dirty or oily. Leave on according to the product instructions and then rinse thoroughly.
- Remove surface rust and asphalt stains
Use specific cleaners to dissolve asphalt stains and surface rust. Follow the instructions on the product and rinse thoroughly.
- Clean with cleaning clay (clay bar)
Spray Clay Lube on a small area of the car and rub the clay bar over the surface in straight, horizontal or vertical motions until the surface feels smooth.
- Wipe down
Wipe down the area with a clean microfibre cloth. Continue on the next area until the entire car is processed.
Once you’ve finished the steps above, it’s time to apply polish and work in circular motions. After polishing, you can then apply a protective coat of car wax or Paint protection . Finally, buff the surface with a clean microfibre cloth to get a deep shine on the paintwork.
