How to determine whether reinforcement is necessary
Are you laying a floor in a shed you are building? Reinforcement may not be necessary. Not all driveways need to be strengthened, but they often need to be reinforced because, as we know, cars are heavy. Even the floor in a garage or at a carport should be reinforced. This is best done by using reinforcing mesh.
Concrete slabs can be designed in different ways, for example, as single- or double-reinforced, with or without expansion joints. A slab without expansion joints should have reinforcement that meets the minimum requirements for crack width limitation.
Even if your construction project is relatively small, you may need rebar. It’s a good idea to examine the ground in the area you will be building.
