Barrier paint
Barrier paint is effective against discolouration on walls and ceilings in the home. Whether it’s nicotine stains, soot or moisture that has discoloured your walls or ceiling. The barrier paint can be used as both ceiling and wall paint, but it can also be applied to wood panels, concrete, plaster, plasterboard and chipboard.
By pre-coating with a barrier paint, you get a very dense paint as a final result, as well as a smoothing effect on old wallpaper with joints, for example.
The barrier paint produces a matte surface, so that the paint you apply later will adhere better.
How to paint with barrier paint
Make sure the surface is completely clean, dry, and firm. If there is any loose paint, it must be scraped off first. Glossy, alkyd painted surfaces must be matte sanded before applying the barrier paint.
When it’s time to start painting, you can apply the barrier paint with roller, brush, or (after thinning) a paint sprayer. One coat is usually enough, but in some cases you may need to apply a second coat as well. If so, allow the paint to dry thoroughly before the second coat.
Knot primer
When painting wood that has knots and resin, you should first prime these with knot filler. Knot primer has insulating properties and is suitable for use as both a primer and insulation paint.
How to apply knot primer
Start by cleaning and drying the surface thoroughly.
For best results, the knot primer must be used in two different steps: the first coat as a barrier, and the second coat as a sealant. Therefore, you should always apply two coats of knot primer.
Apply the knot primer with a suitable brush, and go over each knot separately.
