A new air mattress needs to be stretched a few times to be able to retain air for a whole night. Therefore, we recommend that you inflate and deflate the air mattress a few times before first use.
Self-inflatable air mattress – the most convenient option
Pumping up an air mattress can drain your energy and, above all, it takes time. Sometimes up to 15 minutes if you have an old manual air pump. Fortunately, there are many options!
A self-inflatable mattress will inflate itself without any effort from you. It has a built-in pump driven by a motor. You plug it into a socket, start the motor, and the mattress inflates. It takes the mattress about as long to inflate as it takes you to brush your teeth.
However, as with all good medications, there is a small side effect. The self-inflatable mattress is larger than an ordinary mattress, which means that it takes up more space when stored. But, on the other hand, you don’t need a separate air pump, which also takes up storage space.
Ordinary air mattress – cheapest and takes up the least space
Do you live in a small apartment? Or are you going on a trip? In these situations, it can be crucial to conserve space or pack as lightly as possible. An ordinary air mattress without a built-in air pump is then the best option because it takes up the least space. Biltema has cheap, ordinary air mattresses for both one and two sleepers depending on what you need.
Single air mattress or double air mattress?
A double mattress is 147 cm wide, which is perfect for two sleepers. When sleeping alone, 147 cm allows you to turn and stretch with a good margin to the edges.
A single mattress is 73-99 cm wide depending on the model you choose. It’s perfect if you need to quickly conjure up a sleeping place when a guest wants to stay overnight. It can be inflated in minutes, and you can lay it out in the nearest corridor, hallway, or wherever you have room to spare. Because it’s so small, it’s extra easy to take on a camping holiday or to the beach!
Air pumps – choose between manual or electric
For our air mattresses (air beds), we sell hand pumps as small as water bottles, which makes them easy to take on trips. We have foot pumps if you want to pump up the mattress faster and electric pumps if you don’t want to pump at all.
