A good suitcase makes a big difference
A suitcase makes the journey both easier and more manageable. The last thing you need is a zipper that breaks at the airport or a suitcase that is difficult to pull. But what are the benefits of a good suitcase?
- Protects your things: A hard suitcase protects your luggage from bumps, while a soft case provides more flexibility and has outer pockets so you can quickly access your most important things.
- Easy to handle: Good wheels and an adjustable handle make it easier to get around airports, streets, or train stations. Suitcases with four wheels can roll in all directions, while models with two wheels are more stable on uneven surfaces.
- Better order in your luggage: Internal compartments, mesh pockets and straps keep your things organized so your clothes stay nice and toiletries don't leak all over the rest of your pack.
- Durability pays off: A suitcase should withstand many trips without problems with zippers, cracks or broken wheels. A solid suitcase means fewer changes and a travel companion you can rely on.
Choose from different types of suitcases
No two trips are the same, and it's important to choose a suitcase that suits your trip. Whether you're packing light for a weekend or need extra space for a longer trip, there's a suitcase that's right for you.
Carry-on bags for short trips
Travelling with light luggage? Then a carry-on bag is the perfect choice for weekend trips, business trips or when you want to avoid checking in luggage. They are adapted to the size requirements of the airlines, so you can quickly get through the airport with your most important things close at hand. If you are only traveling with hand luggage, it can be good to have practical travel accessories such as travel bottles for your liquids or storage bags for your clothes and shoes.
Medium and large suitcases for longer trips
If you need more luggage, a medium or large suitcase provides extra space. Perfect for family holidays or business trips. Hard suitcases protect fragile items better, while soft suitcases offer more flexibility. With strong zippers, smooth-running wheels and reinforced corners, they are built to last for many years.
Duffel bags – a flexible travel companion
If you prefer a bag, a duffel bag is a great alternative to a hard suitcase. It is perfect for car trips, training or more relaxed trips. It's lightweight, easy to carry, and takes up little space when not in use. Some models also have wheels – so you get both flexibility and easy transport in one bag.
Suitcases for little globetrotters
It will be much easier to travel with children when they have their own suitcase. The children's models are lightweight, available in fun colours and have simple zippers so that children can keep their things organised. They are durable, practical and easy to handle for little hands.
How to choose the right suitcase
The right suitcase can make a big difference. Whether you're traveling light or long, it's important to choose the right size, materials, and features.
Cabin bag or checked baggage?
A carry-on bag is perfect for short trips where you want to keep the essentials close and not have to wait at the baggage carousel. For longer trips, a checked suitcase provides more space. If you travel often, it can be practical to have both. If you need to weigh your bag before departure, so that you have not packed too much, we recommend using a digital scale.
Hard or soft suitcase?
Hard suitcases provide better protection and are ideal for flights where luggage is subject to impact. They are also more scratch-resistant. Soft suitcases are lighter, more flexible, and often have outer pockets for easy access. The choice depends on your needs.
Two or four wheels?
Two-wheeled suitcases are stable on uneven ground and easy to pull. Four-wheeled suitcases roll smoothly in all directions and are easier to manoeuvre in airports. For agility, four wheels are a good choice.
Tip: Pack your suitcase smartly
- Choose the right suitcase. Adapt your suitcase to your trip. A cabin bag is enough for short trips, while larger suitcases are needed for longer ones. A lightweight suitcase with good wheels makes it easier if you move around a lot. You can also consider using an all-purpose backpack, weekend bag, or a classic sports bag, depending on what best suits your trip.
- Keep essentials easily accessible. Keep your passports, tickets, money, and electronics safe but easily accessible. Do not put valuables in checked baggage.
- Pack organized. Use bags to sort clothes. Roll the clothes to save space. Store liquids in tight bags and put heavier items at the bottom.
- Think about comfort and practicality. Bring a small handbag with the essentials when flying. A travel adapter is also essential if you're traveling to countries with different power outlets.
TSA Combination Lock
A TSA lock is a special lock that can be opened by security personnel with a master key without them having to break open your suitcase. The advantage of this is that your bag can be checked at security without destroying the lock. It also provides extra peace of mind as your belongings are still locked during the trip.
TSA locks are easy to use and are usually set up with a personal code. They are especially useful when flying to or via countries where bags are sometimes opened for inspection. This means that you avoid damage to both the lock and the bag. At the same time, they act as a regular lock to protect against easy access.
